Ambassadors

The Herne Bay Coastal Community Team launched the Herne Bay Town Ambassadors in July 2017.  This would not have been possible without a grant from the Vattenfall Community Fund

Ambassadors are volunteers who give up their weekends free of charge to “Support the Bay” by enhancing the visitor experience.  They ensure visitors make the most of all that our town has to offer, encouraging them to return.

They are usually to be found along the seafront and have a small marquee close to the pier entrance. They are easily recognisable by their smart, but informal, uniform of caps and polo shirts. All ambassadors receive training in people skills, local history, geography, arts, culture, local events and anecdotal facts, before taking to the streets of Herne Bay to answer questions and offer assistance to visitors during the summer months.

All Ambassadors have radios. If they can’t answer a question, they should be able to contact someone who can!  Think of our ambassadors as walking, talking tourist information officers.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 our Ambassadors are on hold for the time being. However, we hope to have them back for the summer season in 2021.

If you would like to become a Herne Bay Ambassador, please email hello@HBCCT.co.uk for more information.
